Rugby season 6 Nations Time, the rugby season has started |
||
From a baby's point of view, life must be kind of confusing. Different textures, colours, sights, sounds; there are just so many new things to cope with. When Rugby starts, it leads to a whole different ball game (such a bad pun).If you are less than 5 months old (well going to be 5 months in the next few days, have to have a party for that!), nothing must be as confusing as watching two adults jumping around the living room, screaming at the TV, watching colour-coded apes running after a ball (that is out of shape) and another gobsheen (also out of shape) running after them blowing a whistle. In the competition of the 6 nations, there are errm 6 nations, well duh! Our Girl is of more than one nationality. Her Dad is Irish and her Mum is from the north of England. To make it a little more confusing, Gran Donson is Scottish. So she is half Irish and quarter Scottish and English. The ball she has is from her uncle Barney. Barney is a Manc, with a surname of O'Malley but there are Mediterranean connections too, maybe Italian? This is of course confusing for Aoife (well for her parents anyway). Fuel on the fire is called for at this stage, when her mum would have her supporting (yes you guessed it) Wales! It's rugby after all, understanding the rules is not important, it's just selecting the right team to support. Ireland are on first against Italy. The crowds are all in the stands in Landsdown Road, Dublin and the two sets of supporters can easily be told apart by the flags they are carrying. Green, White and Gold; some green, white and orange; more green, white and red; of course the green, white and amber. Maybe a tad more confusing than first thought. For the next match, Aoife's team (for this match cos Ireland are not in it), Wales are against England, (poor lass must be confused). Mum goes quiet after a few minutes of play and suggests maybe watching a movie instead, half way through the game. This does not bode well for the defending champs. The Scottish / French game is on much later and there is no point in watching as it is a foregone conclusion. After seeing the results the next morning, it would appear that Gran Donson, we are with you! Go Scotland! | ||
