Leaving this Town
Time has come to move on.... Ireland beckons!
With under 2 weeks before we are living on Irish soil, tis starting to become quite real begorra (Practicing!)

Herself (the wee-ist one) has started wearing extra clothing, using a blanket at night time and talking quite a bit about snow. We have taken to trying to 'fatten her up' a tad and she does look a million dollars (which incidently is worth about 3 Euro, 62 cents as a result of the Bush years), but she is looking great. She has had a few colds and flu's and various different bouts of one bug or another.

Of course we are arriving in Eire in mid November. The weather may be a tad different than what they are used to. Neither of them have experience many of the different bugs floating around there. On the plus side, they should be safe (or safer at least) from Dengue, malaria and leprosy. Swings and roundabouts. The cool season has started now also in Cambodia and Aoife did mention that she was cold getting out of the bath recently as it was only a blamy 32. A rude awakening is in store I fear!

The boy on the other hand is growning up quick. I was going past a pub the other night and saw his pink car parked outside. I have a feeling he could be a handful! Teething started when we were on holidays, then went away... of course, not for long. Oisín and I were able to go for a walk every morning to watch the moon set and the sun rise. Would have been nice to have missed one on the holiday, but c'est la vie!

He is crawling around and much prefers the hard tiled floor to the padded mats we bought to protect him from using his head as a brake as he zooms along. Wooden and carpeted flooring in Cork will save his parent nerves a smidgen. He has started eating meat and he is piling on the kilos as a result. The mitchelin man affect never really happened with the boy. Babies usual go thru cycles of grow, then put on weight and grow again. This guys just does not stop growing. He looks down on me now, smiles and dribbles on my head.

Mother is learning about Irish Law and has Aoife studying it for her during the day and explaining it over dinner ever evening. Makes for such exciting table conversation.

My wee Sister (whom are next 5 kids are going to be called after) checked out housing for us in Cork and found a nice sized house just a few KM's west of the university. (Ballincollig for those of you in the know) Its on the bus route to the city center, passing the kids creche and the university and we have a spare room or two for guests.

Our container leaves in a few days, so we will be without computers, furniture, kids toys (including Christmas pressies) and one or two other bits and pieces. For the first few weeks in Ireland we will be sleeping on cardboard boxes.

Hopefully the container will arrive before Christmas or we may have to take action like my own Da did one year. Runing out to the back yard from the dinner table, firing a few shots in the air and anouncing to the kids that 'Santa is not coming cos ye we were all bold this year'.

Moving is aparently a stressful time... to a different continent, with kids, changing jobs, buying a car, getting the house connected to the services (specially cable TV) and having to buy a new everything; maybe just a morsel different. The beer gods shall be called on! Here's to my missus never loosing her sense of humour.
