Month 02 &
20, a bit further on. The boys is up to 7 weeks in now. |

They are all asleep. Mother and all the kids snoring soundly. I mean they are
all asleep at the same time.. all of them, not even a mouse type scenario. Lets
see how long that lasts. April means 'hot dry' season and it just ain't helping with
the tiredness factor.
Its 7 am, and 32C outside. The living room is 29.4, so liveable, barely. There is just no let up and the humidity is just silly. On the plus side, the mango trees in the garden are full of fruit and the rains should be here some time soon. The wet season is still hot, but the rain does cool it down for at least a couple of hours per day. We have definately decided that this is the last hot season we are going to spend in Cambodia. The only issue is now, where are we going to be at this time next year (and we have pretty much decided already which country we are going to next.) I think we will take a few photos of us complaining of the heat, so next year when we are freezing at this time of year, we might not be quite so quick to complain.
Living in a climate where the sun shines every day, one might get the feeling that the weather here is ideal.
My own mother would shout at us to get out of the house during the 10 minutes of sunshine in Ireland per summer.
Actually she use to do that during lightning too, but the point being, there was not much cloud free days on the wee emerald isle.
On the contrary the weather was not at all boring like it is here.
If you don't like the weather in Ireland, just wait 5 minutes and it will change.
Alas the truth is that if you go out for a few minutes after 9 am, that you will burn / suffer sun stroke and / or melt!
It's hot!
Our cold water supply is held in a tank is on the roof in direct sun and our hot water supply comes from the main in the ground to the water heater in the shower. During the hot season, the cold water is roasting, but if you turn off the heater in the shower then the hot water is only luke warm. So to cool down, the only way really is a luke warm shower, or to sit beside the fridge with its door open, but alas the beer gets warm then. What a prediciment! I'm getting good at whatever the boy 'throws' at me these days, but have had to learn a few rules in the process. Do not roll up a newspaper, try to stick his face in it and (apparently this is the most important,) do not ever NEVER do it back to him, no matter what he does. Won't make that mistake twice. Rules, rules, rules. We are still awoken a couple of time per night with the wee fella looking for a top up. There is of course the added fun of ensuring when he makes ANY noise whatsoever that we are up within seconds. We are running Air-con at night, from the living room unit and have the bedroom doors open so the one unit does this part of the house. Its more efficient as the other air-cons are older, no thermostats etc. On the negative side though, one child can wake the other with playful antics. Like screaming blue murder in the middle of the night. As a result, SWAT teams have nothing on us in response time (that is if SWAT teams took it on themselves to close doors quickly) Our social life is great, as we are out every night till the wee hours partying, dancing, drinking etc. We are not like other new parents that get a bottle of wine to last 3 days, due to falling asleep every time they sit down. Let alone when they have a drop of alcohol!! I'm not sure if this was mentioned before, but being a parents of 2 kids under the age of 2 can be tiring. Aoife is getting her last two teeth also at the moment, just to add to the fun! Big, big molars, poor lass. The neighbour cats having fun tring to create a few of their own at 2:45 am did not help also. I must remember not to turn on the yard light when running naked around the garden after cats as that time in the morning. Poor neighbours, I'm sure that I will turn up on some 'funniest home video' show. So after getting the girl up at 6 am and then mother appears in the kitchen with the boy and everyone is tired, the boy started to smile and cooh. Timing is good here, as this is when it was most needed, for EVERYBODY. Busy morning ahead with new projects in work. Clear head needed for that. I suppose a quick run down to "Crazy Pat's, Cat snares R us" shop might be on the cards first. The kids links page has more info on life for the lads. | ||
