The Lad
Oisín Robin is here at last!

?Oisín Robin Kelly is his name.

Oisín was born in Samitivej Hospital in Bangkok's Sukhumvit area during the 7th Waining moon in the 3rd month of the year of the pig. Golden pig too! This is a lucky year. So although this is not a good year for the markets, apparently the boy is going to be exceptionally fortunate. In Western terms, this equates to ORK being born at 1:15 PM on 10th March 2007.

Oisín (Old Irish, pronounced roughly "uh-sheen"), son of Fionn mac Cumhail, is a poet and warrior of the fianna in the Fenian Cycle of Irish mythology.

W.B.Yeats has a few poems on him, so it can't be too bad. Wikipedia has more info on the name.

Oisín was 3.250 KG's and 51cm tall. Mother was confused (but relieved) as to why he was so 'small'. She then glanced over at me and thought 'oh yeah, remember now...'

Everyone is doing well and as no drugs were used during the delivery there were clearer heads all around. Except for Da, who cannot express enough, how bad an idea of being a hungover birthing partner actually is. Thankfully, phrases like, 'a luv, would you mind keepin it down a wee bit as I have a wee bit of a pain in my head' were not uttered, resulting in still having said head attached.

Mother was in 'full' Labour from 3 am, went to hospital at 8:30, and ORK was born at 1:15 PM, less than 5 hours later.

ORK has already met ARK and ARK was more impressed with the wheelie table that ORK was on, rather than ORK himself. Photo's of the day and a few days after are right here.

Metal drawers that slam pretty well and pushing the table around was just part of the fun.

Aoife in the mean time has got to spend most of her time with the Irish grandparents, learning all the cousins names, how to go crazy in the park and generally wrap them around her little finger.

Our next hurdle is getting passports and visas organised so we can go home. We should be back in Phnom Penh about the 27th.

To send Fiona a text, please remember to use the Bangkok number and not the Cambodia one (on the contact us page).
